Babe Ruth Honors State
Champs to Open Season

The Giles County Babe Ruth League honored a championship team and the memory of a lost friend and team mate during its opening ceremonies.

The Giles County 15-Year-Old State Champion All Stars were honored for their success.

A member of that team, Zach Holt, also threw out the first pitch of the season in memory of his brother Trent, who was killed in a hunting related accident in December. Trent Holt would have been a 13-year-old in Babe Ruth this year.

VFW 4

Sundrop was up 6-0 after two innings and VFW scored its four runs in the third.

Z. Dunnavant was the winning pitcher.

For Sundrop, Dunnavant hit a double.

J. Hale hit two singles. Tyler Austin and Nathan Hale each hit one single.

For VFW Drew Abernathy hit two singles. J. Coleman, C. Adams and Q. Appleton each hit one single.

Coke 7

Sports World 6

Neither team scored until the fourth inning when Coke put up three runs and Sports World scored four.

The score remained 4-3 until the seventh inning when Coke plated four runs and Sports World could only score twice.

H. Morris was the winning pitcher.

For Coke M. Adams hit two doubles.

Morris hit three singles. H. Miller hit two singles. Brice Bub and Scott Shellhouse each hit one single.

For Sports World, Lucas Harrison hit a double.

Kelly Donnelly hit two singles. L. Harvel, N. Harvel and W. Mosely each hit one single.
