League Races Tighten Up at Richland Park

With a come from behind win over Johnson’s Foodtown last week, First National Bank needs to win only one of their final two games to clinch the Giles County Softball Prep League championship at Richland Park this week.

First National came into last week needing to win two of their final three games, with second place Shelter Insurance and third place Johnson’s among those three games.

They fell behind Johnson’s Foodtown early, but escaped the game with a 12-9 win.

Magotteaux continued its domination of the Minor League softball play, having clinched the league title two weeks ago.

Southern Restoration remained undefeated and put the Little League race on ice last week with blow out wins over Ink Spot and Timken.

As of June 9, First National Bank remained undefeated in Senior League play at 4-0, with a two game lead over Bank of Frankewing (2-2). Team Wynn and Dr. Pepper are 1-3.

Ink Spot scored three runs in the fourth to tie the game and took a one-run lead going into the bottom of the sixth as they looked to give Southern Restoration their first loss of the season.

Southern Restoration answered in the bottom of the sixth with two runs to remain unbeaten.

McKenna Rose was the winning pitcher.

For Southern Restoration, Katelyn Griggs hit a triple.

Callyn Grace Schmidt hit a double and a single.

Rose hit a single.

For Ink Spot, Taylor McNairy and Chasity Gilbert each hit a triple.

Mary Kaitlyn Bruce hit a single.

Ink Spot 15

Timken 8

Timken scored eight runs in the third inning to take an 8-4 lead but Ink Spot answered with five in the fourth and six in the fifth.

Braly Jernigan was the winning pitcher.

For Ink Spot, Chasity Gilbert hit a home run and a single. Taylor McNairy hit a home run.

Mary Kaityln Bruce and Ali Journey each hit a single.

For Timken, Bianca Malone hit a double.

Aisa Carter, Kendall Worsham, Emma Bub and Erin Campbell each hit a single.

Ink Spot 9

With a 12-5 lead after four innings, Southern Restoration put nine runs across the plate in the top of the fifth.

Katelyn Griggs was the winning pitcher.

For Southern Restoration, Griggs and Maclayne Birch each hit a triple.

McKenna Rose hit a double.

Grey Hawk hit two singles and Kennedy Blocker hit a single.

For Ink Spot, Domonique Gilbert hit a triple.

Chasity Gilbert and Braly Jernigan each hit a single.

Prep League

JC/Greene 11

Sundrop 5

A total of 10 runs in the third, fourth and fifth innings made the difference for JC/Greene Construction.

Lillie Ingram was the winning pitcher.

For JC/Greene, Jill Murrah hit a double and a single.

Maddy Chapman hit two singles. Ingram, Taylor Teegarden, Allison Griggs and Bailee Hodge each hit a single.

For Sundrop, Kayla Hutto hit a double.

Bayleigh Blocker, Lexi Thorne, Anna Bigger and Allie Toone each hit a single.

Johnson’s 9

With nine runs in the first two innings and a 9-7 lead after four innings, Johnson’s Foodtown had an upset of the league’s top team in their sights.

However, First National Bank put six runs across the plate in the top of the sixth to secure the win.

Caylee Parker was the winning pitcher.

For FNB Olivia Newton hit a triple and a single. Hope Callahan hit a triple.

Parker hit three singles. Lexi Barnickle hit a single.

For Johnson’s Grace Gerlach and Alisha Pett each hit a double.

Sydnie Wiser hit two singles. Katie Parker hit a single.

Dr. Pepper 2

Dr. Pepper scored two runs in the bottom of the first and held a 2-1 lead through the third inning.

In the fourth inning First National Bank tied the game at 2-2, where it stayed until they scored the game winning run in the top of the seventh.

Ashton Henderson was the winning pitcher.

For FNB, Ashton Edwards hit two triples and a single.

Shelby Whitworth hit two singles. Elisabeth Patterson, Rebecca Fox, Kayce Currin and Henderson each hit a single.

For Dr. Pepper, Mary Beth Brumit hit a double and two singles.

Ashley Boyd hit a single.

BOF 10

Wynn 3

Bank of Frankewing racked up eight runs in the first two innings and cruised to the win.

Morgan May was the winning pitcher.

For Bank of Frankewing, Taylor Parker hit three doubles.

Megan Gardner hit two singles. Carly Lambert, Ali May and Morgan May each hit a single.

For Team Wynn, Rebecca Few hit a double and a single.

Minor League

Sports World 14

Gerald’s 7

Sports World led 8-5 after three innings and tacked on six more runs to pull away to the win.

For Sports World, Lindsey Barnickle hit two home runs and a double. Jada Gardner hit a home run.

Alexis Lindelof hit four singles. Anna Wamble, Monte Pickett, Emily Robinson, Trinity Pruett and Kaitlyn Harvey each hit two singles. Brooke Ashmore, Josie Wiser and Morgan Lindelof each hit a single.

For Gerald’s Auto Body, Abby Sauls hit a triple and a single.

Hannah McGill hit three singles. Nikki White and Trinity Hope each hit two singles. Charity Hopper, Brianna Risner and Emma Massey each hit a single.

Magotteaux 15

Sundrop 0

Six runs in the first inning, six in the third and three in the fourth propelled Magotteaux to the lopsided win.

For Magotteaux, Faith Cross hit a home run and triple. Hannah Hill hit a home run and a double. Hope Drake hit a home run.

Maggie Meyers hit a double.

Brooklyn Matthews hit two singles. Erin Abernathy, Robbie Guthrie, McKenna Beck, Halle Murrey and Talasia Dudley each hit a single.

Johnson’s 5

JC/Greene Construction held a 5-4 lead after both teams scored four runs in the third inning, then added three more runs to Johnson’s Foodtown’s one.

For JC/Greene Construction ,Jill Murrah hit a double and a single. Taylor Teegarden hit a double.

Allison Griggs and Ingram each hit two singles.

For Johnson’s, Foodtown Alissa Pett hit a triple and a single. Grace Gerlach hit a triple.

Three runs in the third and three in the fourth proved to be the difference for Shelter Insurance.
