Giles County increased to 77 patients who have tested positive for COVID-19, coronavirus, as of 2 p.m. today, July 8, according to the Tennessee Department of Health website, Tn.gov/health.
Thirty of those confirmed cases have now recovered.
In today’s update on TN.gov/health, negative tests rose to 2,419, up from 2,289.
One fatality has been reported for Giles.
Test results in Tennessee counties contiguous to Giles are: Lawrence — 192 positive, 3,330 negative, 86 recovered, six fatalities; Lincoln — 78 positive, 2,502 negative, 48 recovered; Marshall — 101 positive, 2,162 negative, 48 recovered, one fatality; and Maury — 406 positive, 5,785 negative, 234 recovered, three fatalities.
As of 2 p.m. today, Tennessee has reported 55,986 total cases, 885,538 negative tests, 685 fatalities and 32,736 recovered.
According to Johns Hopkins University, the United States has 3,022,899 confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 131,857 deaths.
Globally, JHU reports 11,900,855 confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 545,728 deaths.
