Giles County increased to 42 patients who have tested positive for COVID-19, coronavirus, as of 2 p.m. today, June 24, according to the Tennessee Department of Health website, Tn.gov/health.

Sixteen of those confirmed cases have now recovered.

In today’s update on TN.gov/health, negative tests rose to 1,616, up from 1,592.

Test results in Tennessee counties contiguous to Giles are: Lawrence — 97 positive, 2,518 negative, 43 recovered, three fatalities; Lincoln — 51 positive, 1,954 negative, 33 recovered; Marshall — 49 positive, 1,556 negative, 36 recovered, one fatality; and Maury — 248 positive, 4,565 negative, 123 recovered, two fatalities.

As of 2 p.m. today, Tennessee has reported 37,235 total cases, 674,821 negative tests, 556 fatalities and 24,693 recovered.

According to Johns Hopkins University, the United States has 2,364,874 confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 121,662 deaths.

Globally, JHU reports 9,323,932 confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 479,215 deaths.
