For several years, VFW Post 4577 and its Auxiliary have placed flags on the graves of veterans in Maplewood Cemetery and Giles Memory Gardens each Memorial Day. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this will not be possible this year.

However, flags will be available to family members for placement on veterans’ graves. To pick-up a flag from Peggy Malone at People’s Choice Realty, call 931-703-9496; or call Margia Trotter at 638-3740 to make arrangements to get one from her.

Flags may be picked up Saturday, May 23, at Maplewood Cemetery from  James Malone, 10 a.m.-2 p.m., or Maxie Trotter, 2-4 p.m.; or at Giles Memory Gardens from  Jerome Arnell, 11 a.m.-2 p.m., or Dwight Tucker, 2-4 p.m.

Families are also welcome to take a flag if their loved one is buried in another cemetery. The flags will be the families’ to keep.
