Giles County remained at nine patients who have tested positive for COVID-19, coronavirus, as of 2 p.m. today, May 12, according to the Tennessee Department of Health website, Tn.gov/health.

Seven of those confirmed cases have now recovered.

In today’s update on TN.gov/health, negative tests rose to 718, up from 716.

Test results in Tennessee counties contiguous to Giles are: Lawrence — 21 positive, 1,101 negative, 17 recovered; Lincoln — 16 positive, 910 negative, 11 recovered; Marshall — 24 positive, 790 negative, 20 recovered, one fatality; and Maury — 57 positive, 2,105 negative, 37 recovered.

As of 2 p.m. today, Tennessee has reported 16,111 positive tests, 267,813 negative tests, 265 fatalities and 8,336 recovered.

According to Johns Hopkins University, the United States has 1,358,000 confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 81,650 deaths.

Globally, JHU reports 4,233,504 confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 289,932 deaths.
