Giles County remained at nine patients who have tested positive for COVID-19, coronavirus, as of 2 p.m. today, May 16, according to the Tennessee Department of Health website, Tn.gov/health.

Seven of those confirmed cases have recovered.

In today’s update on TN.gov/health, negative tests rose to 772, up from 761.

Test results in Tennessee counties contiguous to Giles are: Lawrence — 21 positive, 1,187 negative, 17 recovered; Lincoln — 16 positive, 992 negative, 15 recovered; Marshall — 26 positive, 850 negative, 20 recovered, one fatality; and Maury — 61 positive, 2,296 negative, 39 recovered.

As of 2 p.m. today, Tennessee has reported 17,288 positive tests, 302,913 negative tests, 295 fatalities and 9,529 recovered.

According to Johns Hopkins University, the United States has 1,463,350 confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 88,447 deaths.

Globally, JHU reports 4,621,327 confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 310,869 deaths.
