Giles County increased to 10 patients who have tested positive for COVID-19, coronavirus, as of 2 p.m. today, May 17, according to the Tennessee Department of Health website, Tn.gov/health.

Seven of those confirmed cases have recovered.

In today’s update on TN.gov/health, negative tests rose to 795, up from 772.

Test results in Tennessee counties contiguous to Giles are: Lawrence — 21 positive, 1,201 negative, 17 recovered; Lincoln — 16 positive, 1,010 negative, 15 recovered; Marshall — 26 positive, 868 negative, 20 recovered, one fatality; and Maury — 63 positive, 2,332 negative, 39 recovered.

As of 2 p.m. today, Tennessee has reported 17,388 positive tests, 307,892 negative tests, 298 fatalities and 9,652 recovered.

According to Johns Hopkins University, the United States has 1,478,241 confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 89,207 deaths.

Globally, JHU reports 4,687,320 confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 313,973 deaths.
