Giles County increased to 12 patients who have tested positive for COVID-19, coronavirus, as of 2 p.m. today, May 18, according to the Tennessee Department of Health website, Tn.gov/health.

Eight of those confirmed cases have now recovered.

In today’s update on TN.gov/health, negative tests rose to 812, up from 795.

Test results in Tennessee counties contiguous to Giles are: Lawrence — 21 positive, 1,229 negative, 17 recovered; Lincoln — 16 positive, 1,039 negative, 15 recovered; Marshall — 27 positive, 882 negative, 20 recovered, one fatality; and Maury — 68 positive, 2,390 negative, 40 recovered.

As of 2 p.m. today, Tennessee has reported 18,011 positive tests, 319,417 negative tests, 301 fatalities and 9,886 recovered.

According to Johns Hopkins University, the United States has 1,496,509 confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 89,874 deaths.

Globally, JHU reports 4,769,177 confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 316,898 deaths.
