Giles County remained at 12 patients who have tested positive for COVID-19, coronavirus, as of 2 p.m. today, May 19, according to the Tennessee Department of Health website, Tn.gov/health.

Eight of those confirmed cases have recovered.

In today’s update on TN.gov/health, negative tests rose to 817, up from 812.

Test results in Tennessee counties contiguous to Giles are: Lawrence — 21 positive, 1,235 negative, 17 recovered; Lincoln — 17 positive, 1,041 negative, 15 recovered; Marshall — 26 positive, 887 negative, 20 recovered, one fatality; and Maury — 71 positive, 2,405 negative, 42 recovered.

As of 2 p.m. today, Tennessee has reported 18,378 positive tests, 327,745 negative tests, 305 fatalities and 10,969 recovered.

According to Johns Hopkins University, the United States has 1,519,986 confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 91,179 deaths.

Globally, JHU reports 4,867,515 confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 321,459 deaths.
