Giles County remained at eight patients who have tested positive for COVID-19, coronavirus, as of 2 p.m. today, May 2, according to the Tennessee Department of Health website,

Four of those confirmed cases have recovered.

In today’s update on, negative tests rose to 450, up from 425.

Test results in Tennessee counties contiguous to Giles are: Lawrence — 17 positive, 868 negative, 16 recovered; Lincoln — 14 positive, 598 negative, nine recovered; Marshall — 23 positive, 596 negative, 11 recovered, one fatality; and Maury — 44 positive, 1,586 negative, 34 recovered.

As of 2 p.m. today, Tennessee has reported 12,661 positive tests, 183,615 negative tests, 209 fatalities and 5,718 recovered.

According to Johns Hopkins University, the United States has 1,121,414 confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 65,645 deaths. JHU reports 6,551,810 total tested in the U.S.

Globally, JHU reports 3,397,879 confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 241,547 deaths.
