Giles County remained at 12 patients who have tested positive for COVID-19, coronavirus, as of 2 p.m. today, May 20, according to the Tennessee Department of Health website, Tn.gov/health.

Eight of those confirmed cases have recovered.

In today’s update on TN.gov/health, negative tests rose to 823, up from 817.

Test results in Tennessee counties contiguous to Giles are: Lawrence — 22 positive, 1,238 negative, 17 recovered; Lincoln — 19 positive, 1,045 negative, 16 recovered; Marshall — 27 positive, 889 negative, 21 recovered, one fatality; and Maury — 73 positive, 2,418 negative, 42 recovered.

As of 2 p.m. today, Tennessee has reported 18,532 positive tests, 335,481 negative tests, 309 fatalities and 11,783 recovered.

According to Johns Hopkins University, the United States has 1,539,633 confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 92,645 deaths.

Globally, JHU reports 4,952,882 confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 325,712 deaths.
