Giles County remained at 12 patients who have tested positive for COVID-19, coronavirus, as of 2 p.m. today, May 21, according to the Tennessee Department of Health website, Tn.gov/health.

Eight of those confirmed cases have recovered.

In today’s update on TN.gov/health, negative tests rose to 855, up from 823.

Test results in Tennessee counties contiguous to Giles are: Lawrence — 22 positive, 1,276 negative, 17 recovered; Lincoln — 22 positive, 1,082 negative, 17 recovered; Marshall — 27 positive, 909 negative, 21 recovered, one fatality; and Maury — 74 positive, 2,479 negative, 43 recovered.

As of 2 p.m. today, Tennessee has reported 18,961 positive tests, 341,622 negative tests, 313 fatalities and 12,191 recovered.

According to Johns Hopkins University, the United States has 1,562,714 confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 93,863 deaths.

Globally, JHU reports 5,047,714 confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 329,816 deaths.
