Giles County remained at 12 patients who have tested positive for COVID-19, coronavirus, as of 2 p.m. today, May 22, according to the Tennessee Department of Health website, Tn.gov/health.

Eight of those confirmed cases have recovered.

In today’s update on TN.gov/health, negative tests rose to 858, up from 855.

Test results in Tennessee counties contiguous to Giles are: Lawrence — 23 positive, 1,280 negative, 17 recovered; Lincoln — 26 positive, 1,085 negative, 17 recovered; Marshall — 28 positive, 913 negative, 22 recovered, one fatality; and Maury — 78 positive, 2,500 negative, 48 recovered.

As of 2 p.m. today, Tennessee has reported 19,394 positive tests, 348,776 negative tests, 315 fatalities and 12,566 recovered.

According to Johns Hopkins University, the United States has 1,590,349 confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 95,495 deaths.

Globally, JHU reports 5,168,714 confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 335,941 deaths.
