Giles County remained at 12 patients who have tested positive for COVID-19, coronavirus, as of 2 p.m. today, May 23, according to the Tennessee Department of Health website, Tn.gov/health.

Eight of those confirmed cases have recovered.

In today’s update on TN.gov/health, negative tests rose to 873, up from 858.

Test results in Tennessee counties contiguous to Giles are: Lawrence — 24 positive, 1,305 negative, 17 recovered; Lincoln — 26 positive, 1,095 negative, 17 recovered; Marshall — 27 positive, 929 negative, 22 recovered, one fatality; and Maury — 78 positive, 2,550 negative, 49 recovered.

As of 2 p.m. today, Tennessee has reported 19,789 positive tests, 353,969 negative tests, 329 fatalities and 12,745 recovered.

According to Johns Hopkins University, the United States has 1,613,476 confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 96,662 deaths.

Globally, JHU reports 5,168,714 confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 340,196 deaths.
