Giles County remained at 12 patients who have tested positive for COVID-19, coronavirus, as of 2 p.m. today, May 24, according to the Tennessee Department of Health website, Tn.gov/health.

Eight of those confirmed cases have recovered.

In today’s update on TN.gov/health, negative tests rose to 895, up from 873.

Test results in Tennessee counties contiguous to Giles are: Lawrence — 24 positive, 1,331 negative, 17 recovered; Lincoln — 25 positive, 1,185 negative, 17 recovered; Marshall — 27 positive, 949 negative, 22 recovered, one fatality; and Maury — 78 positive, 2,597 negative, 49 recovered.

As of 2 p.m. today, Tennessee has reported 20,145 positive tests, 363,431 negative tests, 336 fatalities and 12,837 recovered.

According to Johns Hopkins University, the United States has 1,635,192 confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 97,495 deaths.

Globally, JHU reports 5,367,675 confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 343,513 deaths.
