Giles County remained at 12 patients who have tested positive for COVID-19, coronavirus, as of 2 p.m. today, May 26, according to the Tennessee Department of Health website, Tn.gov/health.

Eight of those confirmed cases have recovered.

In today’s update on TN.gov/health, negative tests rose to 922, up from 915.

Test results in Tennessee counties contiguous to Giles are: Lawrence — 24 positive, 1,382 negative, 19 recovered; Lincoln — 25 positive, 1,227 negative, 17 recovered; Marshall — 29 positive, 982 negative, 23 recovered, one fatality; and Maury — 80 positive, 2,708 negative, 54 recovered.

As of 2 p.m. today, Tennessee has reported 20,965 positive tests, 382,539 negative tests, 343 fatalities and 13,344 recovered.

According to Johns Hopkins University, the United States has 1,671,728 confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 98,584 deaths.

Globally, JHU reports 5,549,131 confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 348,224 deaths.
