Giles County remained at 12 patients who have tested positive for COVID-19, coronavirus, as of 2 p.m. today, May 28, according to the Tennessee Department of Health website, Tn.gov/health.

Eight of those confirmed cases have recovered.

In today’s update on TN.gov/health, negative tests rose to 929, up from 922.

Test results in Tennessee counties contiguous to Giles are: Lawrence — 24 positive, 1,402 negative, 20 recovered; Lincoln — 25 positive, 1,231 negative, 18 recovered; Marshall — 30 positive, 994 negative, 24 recovered, one fatality; and Maury — 81 positive, 2,738 negative, 61 recovered.

As of 2 p.m. today, Tennessee has reported 21,679 positive tests, 394,310 negative tests, 356 fatalities and 14,632 recovered.

According to Johns Hopkins University, the United States has 1,711,313 confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 101,129 deaths.

Globally, JHU reports 5,931,112 confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 357,929 deaths.
