Giles County remained at 12 patients who have tested positive for COVID-19, coronavirus, as of 2 p.m. today, May 31, according to the Tennessee Department of Health website, Tn.gov/health.

Eight of those confirmed cases have recovered.

In today’s update on TN.gov/health, negative tests rose to 1,038, up from 950.

Test results in Tennessee counties contiguous to Giles are: Lawrence — 31 positive, 1,441 negative, 20 recovered; Lincoln — 25 positive, 1,264 negative, 18 recovered; Marshall — 31 positive, 1,031 negative, 25 recovered, one fatality; and Maury — 91 positive, 2,854 negative, 63 recovered.

As of 2 p.m. today, Tennessee has reported 23,006 positive tests, 412,971 negative tests, 364 fatalities and 15,300 recovered.

According to Johns Hopkins University, the United States has 1,779,853 confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 104,081 deaths.

Globally, JHU reports 6,083,633 confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 369,593 deaths.
