Giles County remained at nine patients who have tested positive for COVID-19, coronavirus, as of 3:30 p.m. today, May 8, according to the Tennessee Department of Health website, Tn.gov/health.

Seven of those confirmed cases have now recovered.

In today’s update on TN.gov/health, negative tests rose to 666, up from 656.

Test results in Tennessee counties contiguous to Giles are: Lawrence — 19 positive, 1,009 negative, 17 recovered; Lincoln — 16 positive, 793 negative, 10 recovered; Marshall — 24 positive, 707 negative, 16 recovered, one fatality; and Maury — 52 positive, 1,895 negative, 35 recovered.

As of 3:30 p.m. today, Tennessee has reported 14,441 positive tests, 229,137 negative tests, 241 fatalities and 7,011 recovered.

According to Johns Hopkins University, the United States has 1,273,887 confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 76,706 deaths.

Globally, JHU reports 3,918,316 confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 273,034 deaths.
