Giles County remained at nine patients who have tested positive for COVID-19, coronavirus, as of 2 p.m. today, May 9, according to the Tennessee Department of Health website, Tn.gov/health.

Seven of those confirmed cases have now recovered.

In today’s update on TN.gov/health, negative tests rose to 683, up from 666.

Test results in Tennessee counties contiguous to Giles are: Lawrence — 20 positive, 1,035 negative, 17 recovered; Lincoln — 16 positive, 815 negative, 11 recovered; Marshall — 24 positive, 732 negative, 18 recovered, one fatality; and Maury — 55 positive, 1,964 negative, 36 recovered.

As of 2 p.m. today, Tennessee has reported 14,768 positive tests, 237,980 negative tests, 242 fatalities and 7,369 recovered.

According to Johns Hopkins University, the United States has 1,300,079 confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 78,320 deaths.

Globally, JHU reports 3,998,677 confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 277,692 deaths.
