Mrs. Vicki Lynn Ray Helton, 62, died April 13, 2020.

Mrs. Helton was born Sept. 8, 1957, and was a devoted wife and mother. She battled small cell lung cancer for two years and inspired many along her journey with her faith, strength, perseverance, positive attitude and loving smile.  She loved spending time with her husband, kids and grandkids and going to the lake and the beach. She led an incredible life filled with laughter, travel and time spent with kids and grandkids. She was an encourager by nature and went out of her way to make everyone around her feel loved and accepted. Through it all, husband of 32 years Philip never left her side. She is preceded in death by parents, Jack Ray and Joyce Vanatta; brother Larry Ray; granddaughter Anna Grace Fourakre; and mother-in-law Joyce Helton.

Graveside services with Pastor Larry Thomas officiating will be held at New Zion Cemetery tomorrow (Thursday) at 2 p.m. The procession will begin at Heritage Funeral Home, 609 Bear Creek Pike, Columbia. The family invites you to participate in a Guard of Honor.  Cars will be parked in the New Zion Baptist Church parking lot while the procession passes through. Participants need to be at the church by 1:30 p.m.

Survivors include husband Philip Helton of Culleoka; children, Rusty Parsons and Fiancee Ginny of Pulaski, Shaunda James and husband Michael of Christiana, Kim Collier and husband Tony of Lynnville, Crystal Reeder of Jacksonville, Fla., Chad Helton and wife Laura of Columbia; grandchildren, Reagan Parsons, Ryan Parsons, Jackson Fourakre, Abigail James, Garrett James, Harley Fryer, Rachel St. Clair, Nichole Ethridge, Helena Reeder, Zach Reeder, Shelby Helton, Briar Helton, Tebow Helton; siblings, Cathy Foreman and husband Jesse of Pulaski, Carolyn Gowey of Knoxville; father-in-law Herb Helton of Columbia; many nieces and nephews; and the children she nannied as her own grandkids, River Umstead and Scotch McConnell.
